MaintainIT

During my work at The LEGO Group, one of my core responsibilities was to design the new Mould Maintenance System responsible for maintaining moulds and the production of LEGO bricks in factories across the world. The process included the analysis of the current solution, research, design, and numerous user testing sessions. My work was done in close collaboration with other UX designers, Developers, and different stakeholders like Product Owners and IT Consultants.

Research

To have a holistic understanding of users needs we decided to conduct a few iterations of field research. Spending full working days in the LEGO factory in Billund, talking with the users and observing their work gave us a broad perspective and formed a clear vision of how we want the new system to be designed.

We went through numerous lo-fi prototypes while being constantly in touch with the users, trying to determine a good starting point for our work. While working on the initial idea, one of the main challenges was finding the right balance between showing all information at a glance and streamlining the user flow.

Design

A few months of work resulted in a ready-to-dev design covering most functions of the new system. In the last weeks of my work in The LEGO Group, the design was in production.
